Jon Friedman’s landscape paintings, portraits and sculptures have been shown in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States. His work is represented in numerous public and institutional collections here and abroad including the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.
He is a much sought-after portraitist with recent commissions from the United States House of Representatives, MIT, Caltech,The National Institutes of Health, the National Academy of Sciences, the Royal College of Surgeons, and the Royal Society of England among many others.
Mr. Friedman was raised in Arlington, Virginia. He received a BA in Philosophy from Princeton University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with additional studies at the Corcoran Museum School and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He lives with his wife, Joanne Barkan, a writer and journalist, in New York City and Truro Massachusetts.
