A long-standing designer client of ours came to
us with an interesting project: a Kosher Delicatessen that needed
eclectic art reflecting their core audience. The art needed to
reflect the jewish community without being so esoteric that it
was not understandable by everyone.
We worked very closely with Yoshino Architects/YT Design Group.
They were wonderful to work with and their creativity made this
collaborative effort very enjoyable and productive. We put together
a proposal including a wide variety of art, including custom designed
quotes and proverbs, that visually combined both our visions.
They allowed us a lot of freedom when they saw we shared their
vision.
There
is always something to look at when ordering. The framed
pieces complete the space above the menu.
To help fulfill this shared vision many of the
over 70 pieces installed were custom originals. Together
we researched heavily and selected a series of quotes,
sayings and proverbs that we typographically designed.
Not only were these proverbs traditionally framed,
but also many were published to canvas and affixed
to the wall as custom wallpaper. We even supplied
some of the pieces directly from Israel.
This
saying is creative and also very relevant to Ben's
Delicatessen since it is located in Boca Raton.
The framed pieces include subjects as diverse
as historical photos, playbills, and there's even
an eye chart in Hebrew. We also built metal armatures
to support some of the frames from the signage vendors.
This complex installation spanned a number of days
and the resulting environment is a fun, relaxing,
visually exciting place to dine.
Some
framed pieces just fit into a space so perfectly,
they look like they have been there forever.
Frames
were placed in an artistic arrangement to give this
space visual interest.
This
is another saying that proves to be a great addition
to the Delicatessen.
The framed pieces are definitely an
amazing addition to Ben's Delicatessen. Also take a
closer look at some of the typographic
posters that were created by our artist Frank
Martin.
Typographic Posters
We worked very closely with one of
our artists, Frank
Martin, to meet the challenge of conceptualizing
visually captivating typographic pieces for Ben's Kosher
Delicatessen. The sayings in the pieces and the posters
were thoroughly researched. They supply the customers
with something humorous and interesting to read while
waiting to order or in high traffic areas and add to
the overall welcoming feel of Ben's Delicatessen.
The posters created are humorous and visually stimulating.
This poster lists Jewish holidays and witty remarks
pertaining to them.
These are some more examples of the sayings in these
beautifully designed typographic pieces that add to
the appeal of Ben's Delicatessen.
